Readme.txt 1. Overview Name That State for Windows (NTS) is a geography program intended for use by middle grade school students. However it is useful for anyone wanting to learn the geography of the United States. It is programmed to run with Windows 3.1, Windows 3.11, and Windows 95. It may reside on a floppy disk or hard drive. With NTS you can learn and/or test your knowledge about the United States and its capitals. You'll find out when each state came into the union, its' nickname and why it's called that. The program is completely 'menu driven' and has six (6) modes of operation. 2. Installing NTS Name That State requires that you use the provided "Setupnts.exe" program for it to be properly installed. The setup program DOES NOT modify your Windows.ini, System.ini, Config.sys, or Autoexec.bat files. Setupnts copies only the necessary files and places them in the selected directory. To install the program from within Windows 3.1 or Windows NT A. Make your Windows Shell (Program Manager for most users) the active window. B. From the menu select "File" C. Select "Run" D. Enter "x:\y\setupnts.exe" (Where x = the disk and y = the directory where the program is located) E. Click the OK Button F. Follow instructions on the Screen. To install the program from within Windows 95 A. From your windows shell select "START" B. Select "RUN" C. Enter "x:\y\setupnts.exe" (Where x = the disk and y = the directory where the program is located) D. Click the OK Button E. Follow instructions on the Screen. 2. Uninstalling NTS NTS does not use any files other than those installed in its' own directory and its' own INI file. To uninstall the program: To uninstall NTS from Windows 3.1 or Windows NT A. If you installed NTS to its' own directory: delete that directory and all of the files in it. or B. If you installed NTS into a directory with other files in it: delete the files listed in "3. Distribution Files". C. Delete the program manager group if it was created or delete the icons if other programs are in the group. To uninstall NTS from Windows 3.1 or Windows NT A. Click the "Start" B. Click "Settings" C. Click "Control Panel" D. Click "Add/Remove Programs" E. Click on "Name That State" F. Click on "Add/Remove" G. Click on "Automatic" 3.
